Psychological Evaluations Psychological evaluations involve the use of tests and other information such as personal and medical history, description of current symptoms, problems reported by either self or others, and collateral information (interviews with other persons about the person being assessed). These evaluations may be used to either direct the focus of psychotherapy or alone as a diagnostic tool to better aid in other medical or mental health treatment planning. Along with a detailed clinical interview and review of medical records, tests commonly used in a psychological evaluation include measures of intellectual and emotional functioning, as well as measures of personality.
